It’s that time of the year again, where the Christmas binge has left us all feeling pretty full and rubbish! Chances are… you’ve probably started making some new years resolutions, goals and challenges over the past couple of weeks, because we certainly have!! So, here are 5 tips we believe will make you healthier and happier in 2018…
1 - Set Realistic Goals
2018 is a new year and in many ways a clean slate. Set some new realistic goals, it could be a place you want to visit or to achieve something incredible! The world is your oyster.
We’ve decided to sign up to Tough Mudder this year, which is a 10 mile run and assault course (obviously involving a lot of mud, sweat and tears). We wanted to give ourselves a serious health challenge for 2018, so we have to be physically and mentally fit! We find having something realistic to work towards, helps you maintain a strong and focused mentality, meaning you don’t fall at the first hurdle. So if you’re feeling up to a challenge, sign up to something for 2018 and smash it! Because we are all capable of achieving anything, if we put our mind to it…
2 - Eat Healthier
A lot of people after the Christmas period turn to dieting and trying to loose weight. However, incorporating a healthier balanced diet and exercising regularly, is much better for your body and mind. Sustaining a healthier way of life, will make you feel healthier and happier and isn’t that what we all want?
Remember, it is always important to cleanse the body regularly from all nasty toxins – as they can restrict the body’s ability of absorbing the nutrients it needs! Clean Greens, is a perfect detoxifier due to its high concentration of easily digestible super greens! It is also a great way to increase the amount of greens you’re having, especially as they’re all rich in vital vitamins and minerals.
3 - Exercise More Often
It is recommended that we should workout at least 3 – 4 times a week. Whether you’re wanting to tone up, lose any unwanted fat or increase your overall fitness – regular exercise will help you achieve those goals!
There is no denying the facts that exercise has been proven to help with lowering the risk of serious health diseases, prolonging life and improving our mental health. Which is why it is SO important, in order for us to sustain a healthy life.
Doing little and often is a great way of introducing it into your weekly routine, as jumping from doing nothing to heading to the gym 5 times a week can be quite a shock to the system! Once you’ve got over that barrier, it becomes so much easier. So don’t give up, you’ve got this! Increasing your protein intake is crucial when trying to improve muscle strength and mass, so we would always recommend to have a protein shake after your workout so your body can recover quicker, ready for your next session. Check out our plant-based Muscle Protein, as it is a great post-workout treat!
Being active has also been linked to our mental health. Exercise has been proven to really benefit signs of depression and anxiety. And as someone who suffers with anxiety, I fully believe that there is no better therapy than exercising and being active. Looking after our mental health is just as important as our physical health. A happier mind = a healthier you, don’t forget that.
4 – Drink More Water!
Well this is a no brainer… we need water to survive! Our body is made up of around 70% water, so we need it to be able to function properly. We should drink on average 3 litres of water a day; most people don’t even reach 1 litre!
Drinking more water can help flush bad toxins out of the body and give you more energy! You can drink Berry Beauty in water once or twice a day, so you’re getting the best of both worlds here, amazing superfood ingredients and water in one go. Not only does Berry Beauty help maintain healthy and moisturised skin, it also helps with metabolism and digestion. It is the perfect addition to your daily water intake.
So lets all drink more water and look after our bodies this year!
5 – Replacing Bad Habits with Healthy Ones
Breaking bad habits will always be one of our toughest challenges, as they always seem to be locked into our behavioural patterns no matter how many times we try to give them up! Whether it is biting your nails or being obsessed with your phone and social media, we all have to start from somewhere. So the best thing to do is to find something that interests you and you enjoy, so you can begin to utilise your time better and replace that bad habit with a healthy one!
For me, I know I am on my phone far too much in the day, whether it is to do with business or because I find myself scrolling through pointless Facebook videos whenever I have free time. I want to make use of this free time and energy more, so I refrain from turning to my phone for some sort of ‘break’. I used to dance 3-4 times a week, every single week and it used to be my time away from everything in the world. I want to meditate more and attend a few yoga classes every week now. This way, I can relax my mind, reduce stress and actually have time out to myself again!
So here’s to a healthier and happier 2018! Let’s ALL have an amazing year and achieve some incredible things. Please let us know what you’ve got planned for this year and any challenges you want to overcome, we’d love to hear your thoughts – firstname.lastname@example.org
